We asked the selected artists from the second Synergy Album to answer some questions about their production journey.
Read on to discover what it took them to get this far in their progress, making the music they love.
ARTIST NAME: DAZ RAPID
How did you first become interested in music production & how did you get started?
I’ve always been interested in learning how to do it I’ve just never had the patience to sit and learn. I’m a “I need to know it all now and not slowly learn it” type of person. I had a crack at it a few years ago seen how hard it was then stopped. It wasn’t till about 18months ago I sat and watched a load of tutorials from the rewired site then YouTube tutorials from other genre producers and put that into my craft to slowly learn.
How would you describe your production style and how has it evolved over time?
My style started off very basic as you do but as times went on I’ve learnt new tricks along the way. I’ve went from samples for everything & midi packs to creating 90% of it myself. Can now go from the bouncy north east makina to making German style & dark donky style makina. Also just started dabbling into a bit of bounce as well.
What DAW do you use and are there any tools, sounds or plugins that are essential for you?
I use FL studio. Serum & randonk are my go to vsts for my sounds.
Do you ever suffer from "writers block" / lack of inspiration, and if so, how do you deal with this?
Everyone will suffer from this I think. But I’ve learnt not to jump on because I feel I have too. I’ll go on as and when I feel an idea. If you force music it never turns out right. That’s the biggest thing I’ve learnt.
What have been some of the highlights in your production journey so far? Are there any songs you are particularly proud of or are meaningful to you?
Highlights finishing in the top 12 of rewired competition in the 2 I’ve entered. Also a lot of big named DJs in the makina scene likes of Chrissy G, Ollie B, Quest & Frostie playing my tracks I’ve sent them at big events.
Have you experienced any challenges or set backs in your journey and if so, how did you handle them?
The whole process starting out is a challenge in itself l. Overcoming being impatient in wanting learn as quick as possible has been my main challenge.
Are there any upcoming projects, events or collabs you are excited about?
I’m not really keen on collabs just yet I feel I have a lot more to learn before that. I’ve took my sounds to big events already and big names are playing some of my music. Hopefully in the future I can play it at some music festivals that cater for my genre of music.
What things are you interested in exploring next in production?
Full sound design on each part of my sounds. Creating every sound from complete scratch and not rely on vsts all the time.
